Google Docs Add-on FAQs

I don't see the Red Marker extension in the dropdown menu

If you don’t see Red Marker in the dropdown menu:

  1. Ensure that your document is a Google Doc, which allows extensions to be used. If you have a Word document (.docx) open, select File → Save as Google Docs to enable extensions.

  2. Your Red Marker Add-on may not be configured properly for your organization. Contact your Google Workspace Admin.

The document isn’t always scrolling to the relevant text

Not all Red Marker rules are linked to specific text, such as general advisory notes or rules which trigger based on the document categorization.

Note: When this happens, the document will not scroll.

Additionally, due to limitations imposed by Google we cannot scroll the document to risks identified in headers, footers or footnotes.
