Work alongside your colleagues in Red Marker with the new ‘Collaborative Review’ functionality in the Google Docs Add-on.
What can I do with Collaborative Review?
Review the document in the Red Marker Add-on.
Dismiss and reply to risks; your comments are shown to colleagues who access the review later.
Access reviews from colleagues, see what actions they’ve taken and reply as required.
Who can use the Collaborative Review functionality?
Collaborative Review is available to all users of the Red Marker Add-on. Your reviews will be automatically accessible to any colleagues with the following enabled:
Permissions to access your Google Doc; and
Is a Red Marker user
Note: Unlike other forms of collaboration in Google Docs, Red Marker does not currently support real time collaboration. If you dismiss or reply to a risk, your colleagues cannot see it until they load the review again - and vice versa.
Tip: To ensure the best Collaborative Review experience, follow these tips below.
As the creator of the document, finish your review before sharing it with colleagues.
As a contributing reviewer, wait until the first pass review is complete before accessing the review to ensure you’re seeing the most up to date commentary.
Using Collaborative Reviews
If a previous review has been run on the document, the review will automatically load without any action from you. You can access the previous review by:
Opening the Google Doc.
Opening the Red Marker Add-on.
Logging into Red Marker in the correct region.
What will you see?
All risks identified in the previous review.
Any risks dismissed in the previous review.
Any replies added to the identified risks, by you or by colleagues.
Note: Any dismissals or replies will be automatically saved on the review for future reference. If you or a colleague re-load Red Marker in future, these dismissals or replies will be shown automatically unless a new review has been run.
How to Run a New Review
If you have made changes to the document and wish to re-review to ensure that the risk has been addressed, you can click “Review again.”
Note: Any replies to risks and dismissals in the review will not be visible in the new review. If you have left comments for colleagues, we don’t recommend starting a new review.
Tip: Reloading an existing review is different to running a new review by selecting ‘Review again’. Reloading the review by closing and re-opening the add-on will show you the current state of the existing review.
