Once the Red Marker Figma plugin has been deployed to your organisation, you will need to add the Red Marker plugin to your Figma instance. To perform first time setup, see here.
Once you're set up, you are ready to use the Red Marker plugin!
Login to Figma and open the Red Marker plugin
To get started, you'll login to Figma and work on your assets as usual. When you are ready to have your asset reviewed by Red Marker, right click and select Red Marker from the Plugins menu.
Note: you must have Edit permissions in the Teams and design files where you wish to use the plugin. If you do not have Edit permissions, contact your Figma administrator and see our first time setup guide.
This will open the Red Marker plugin in Figma, and you'll need to login to Red Marker by clicking on the "Login" button. This action will redirect you to the Red Marker login page, which will open in your web browser.
Enter your Red Marker account credentials and sign in.
After you have logged in:
Desktop Figma users will be automatically redirected to the Figma Editor
Browser Figma users will have a new Figma tab opened. You can close this tab and return to where you were working previously.
Categorisation
If your company has enabled categorisation, you will immediately be prompted to select categories for the asset you wish to review. If your company doesn’t have categorisation enabled, you won’t see this step.
Select the frame for review
Within the Figma Editor, select the specific frame you wish to review. You can select the frame from the left hand side panel, or, if space permits, directly in the canvas.
You can only review frames and not individual layers. Learn more about Figma frames here.
Click on the review button to apply the custom risk detection to your marketing material.
Review the risks that have been detected by Red Marker
Risks detected by Red Marker will populate as Figma comments next to the frame. You can reply to these comments to leave notes and tag your colleagues for further feedback.
You can make changes to your material in Figma based on the Red Marker feedback. If the feedback is no longer relevant you can hit “Resolve” to remove the Red Marker feedback.
Once you have finished reviewing the risks, click 'Finish and Close'. To review your next frame, you will need to right click to open the Red Marker plugin again.
Tip! If you’d like to see a record of your review, and all risks detected, you can open the review in browser by clicking “View In Red Marker”.
Reviewing your material again
To avoid losing a record of detected risks and any associated discussion by Figma users, reviewing the same material again will not remove previous comments.
If you do not wish to see comments from your first review, you can hit "Resolve" to remove the Red Marker feedback before running the subsequent review. The comment (and any replies) will be removed from view and saved in the comments history.
