I have reviewed this document with Red Marker, why can’t I load the previous review?
You must save the document after running the review so the Red Marker Add-in can add the review ID to the document’s properties. If you run a review and do not save the document, the review ID will not be present when you next open the document.
NOTE: Documents reviewed prior to 27 May 2024 (when the ‘Load previous review’ feature was launched) do not contain a review ID.
Can I review a document with Red Marker’s Word Add-in, and see the review when I open the document in Google Docs?
No. Although Red Marker has a Word Add-in and a Google Docs Add-in, they don’t talk to each other.
You can open a Word document in Google Docs, but you won’t be able to use the Red Marker Add-in until you convert the document to a native Google Docs file (File menu > Save as Google Docs). Once converted, the Red Marker Google Docs Add-in will not be able to load the data from the review done in Word.
Can I review a document with Red Marker’s Google Docs Add-in, and see the review when I open the document in Word?
No. Although Red Marker has a Word Add-in and a Google Docs Add-in, they don’t talk to each other.
You can open a Google Docs file in Word, and if you have the Red Marker Word Add-in you will be able to run a review. However, you will not be able to see anything related to the Red Marker review done via the Google Docs Add-in.
Can I email a document to colleagues?
Yes. If you review a Word document with the Red Marker Add-in and then email it to a colleague, they will be able to load your review if:
They are a Red Marker user;
They open the document in Word; and
They have installed the Red Marker Add-in.
I’ve reloaded the last review but I can’t see any risks?
If you reload a review and see a message saying ‘Looks good! No issues found’ it could be for two reasons:
There were no risks raised in the last review; or
The risks raised in the last review were all dismissed.
You can check the review’s History to see any dismissed risks. Go to the Actions menu (︙) in the top right hand corner of the Add-in and select History.
You can restore any dismissed risks by clicking on the risk, clicking on the ‘X’ icon and selecting ‘Restore’.
Why are some of the risks in this review no longer relevant?
If you have amended the document since the last time it was reviewed by Red Marker, reloading the last review may show you risks that are no longer relevant to the document. If you re-review the document, Red Marker will check for risks that are relevant to the current content.
